Queridos amigos, no una sino varias veces me vi confrontado ante la pregunta ¿qué clase de cristiano eres?, poniendo en duda no solo mi vida de creyente sino mi misma fe.
El haber recibido tan dura crítica en algunas de las ocasiones no era infundado y era atribuible al pecado que mora en mi, lo cual, gracias a Dios, no implica no ser convertido genuino.
Desde la visión cristiana se supone que el nuevo carácter del creyente conduce a que guarde la palabra del Señor Jesús, es decir, que un verdadero convertido guarda su ley. Es necesario comprender que el nacido de nuevo, a través del arrepentimiento tiene un profundo anhelo en el corazón de vivir alejado del pecado, pero no deja de pecar.
En ese contexto el apóstol Pablo nos da una explicación magistral en el capítulo 7 de Romanos. Comienza diciendo que gracias a la buena, justa y santa ley el hombre discierne el pecado; la ley es espiritual y el hombre nacido de nuevo no deja de ser carnal, y en ese sentido está vendido al pecado. Dicha condición lo conduce a hacer cosas que no entiende, porque no hace lo que quiere, sino lo que aborrece, precisamente eso hace. Entonces, si es consciente de que hace lo que no quiere, también es consciente de que la ley es buena.
Luego concluye, que ya no es el hombre convertido quien hace lo malo sino el pecado que mora en él. Es consciente de que en él, es decir en su carne, no mora el bien; en su corazón desea profundamente el bien, pero en la práctica no siempre lo hace. No hace todo el bien que quiere, sino el mal que no quiere.
Por lo tanto, si hace lo que no quiere, ya no lo hace él, sino el pecado que mora en él. Así que queriendo hacer el bien, se da cuenta de que el mal está en él. Porque según su hombre interior, se deleita en la ley de Dios; pero en sus miembros hay otra ley, que se rebela contra la ley de su mente, y que lo lleva cautivo a la ley del pecado que está en sus miembros.
Con justa razón el hombre espiritual puede verse en un estado miserable, por seguir en las mismas condiciones físicas con las que vino al mundo, bueno le sería liberarse de su carnalidad, Pablo la describe como cuerpo de muerte.
Concluimos que el creyente debe estar infinitamente agradecido a Jesucristo por haber muerto por sus pecados. El convertido sirve a la ley de Dios con la mente, pero con la carne a la ley del pecado.
Esa es la explicación para el pecado de los creyentes verdaderos, por supuesto que no representa una justificación para pecar, pero le hace comprender al atribulado cristiano el porqué de su pecado.
No existe el cristiano verdadero que no quiera guardar la palabra de Jesús, es decir escuchar sus palabras y obedecerlas, aunque en su caminar por este mundo viva tropezando. Parecería incongruente el que siga desobedeciendo (siga pecando) a pesar de su anhelo por ser obediente, pero la explicación ya la tenemos.
Dios desea que lo amemos con todas nuestras fuerzas, con todo nuestro corazón, con toda nuestra mente y con toda nuestra alma, por lo tanto, espera de sus hijos ese esfuerzo y esa disciplina, que conduce a pecar cada vez menos.
La buena noticia es que los hijos de Dios no están solos y abandonados en este mundo, el Espíritu y su palabra los acompañan y pueden pedir pronto socorro al Dios Padre en oración en el momento que así lo necesiten.
Finalmente quienes guardan la palabra de Jesús no morirán la muerte espiritual, que es la muerte segunda después de la muerte física. Incluso la muerte física será vencida, pues al final de los tiempos cuando Cristo vuelva, sus seguidores resucitarán de entre los muertos para vivir eternamente con Él.
