Ninguna palabra corrompida salga de vuestra boca, sino la que sea buena para la necesaria edificación, a fin de dar gracia a los oyentes. Efesios 4:29 RVR1960
Queridos amigos, es interesante observar a los amigos impíos, que al saber que uno es cristiano, en cierta manera hacen el intento de refrenar su lengua, y cuando lanzan una palabrota se disculpan antes de hacerlo. Esos son los más gentiles, los otros simplemente lanzan sus ajos sin importarles cuán malsonantes son o cuán incómodos pueden ponerse los que los acompañan.
Saben que hablar malas palabras está mal y también son conscientes de que los dobles sentidos (obscenidad hablada) no están bien, pero la naturaleza caída es absolutamente dominante sobre ellos, llegando a deleitarse en las groserías que dicen. Están convencidos que no existe mejor manera de poner énfasis en las cosas que hablan, que no sea aplicar el lenguaje malsonante.
En una ocasión cuando manifesté mi malestar por las vulgaridades que estaban ofendiendo a mis oídos, -así como el pestilente olor del barro podrido ofende el olfato-, inmediatamente fui acusado de ser un puritano, término despectivo con el cual los mundanos describen a aquellos que no comulgan con su forma de hablar, pensar y ser, porque, según ellos, exageran en demasía en su posición de hacerse a los santos. No me pude aguantar y respondí “sí, soy puritano”, a mucha honra quisiera ser puritano, fueron hijos de Dios dignos de admiración.
Hablar malas palabras definitivamente es un pecado, la Biblia lo deja muy claro: Ninguna palabra corrompida salga de su boca (Efesios 4:29a), es una firme amonestación por parte del apóstol Pablo en contra del lenguaje vulgar. Nuestro Señor Jesús explicó que lo que sale de nuestra boca es lo que llena nuestros corazones. La maldad en el corazón del impío no tarda en salir de su boca en forma de malas palabras, no es necesario que esté en una situación de tensión para que esto suceda, pues se da también en condiciones de tranquilo esparcimiento.
Las (malas) palabras indican siempre lo que contienen los corazones. “El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón saca lo bueno; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro de su corazón saca lo malo; porque de la abundancia del corazón habla la boca” (Lucas 6:45). Ya podemos imaginar el contenido del corazón de una persona que ama las palabrotas y los doble sentidos.
Santiago resume el problema de los “lingüisueltos” de la siguiente manera: “Con ella (la lengua) bendecimos al Dios y Padre, y con ella maldecimos a los hombres, que están hechos a la semejanza de Dios. De una misma boca proceden bendición y maldición. Hermanos míos, esto no debe ser así. ¿Acaso alguna fuente echa por una misma abertura agua dulce y amarga? Hermanos míos, ¿puede acaso la higuera producir aceitunas, o la vid higos? Así también ninguna fuente puede dar agua salada y dulce” (Santiago 3:9-12).
La solución la plantea el apóstol Pedro: “Porque: El que quiere amar la vida Y ver días buenos, Refrene su lengua de mal” (1 Pedro 3:10a). Si no refrenamos la lengua contristamos al Espíritu Santo, un hecho que le parece de lo más extraño al impío (mal hablado).
Los cristianos debemos cuidarnos de las malas palabras, recordando que las palabras contaminadas salen de la corrupción (contaminación, podredumbre) del que las dice y corrompen (contaminan, pudren) la mente del que las oye. El creyente debe propender a hablar lo bueno, a utilizar palabras de edificación. Cuán gratificante sería para el cristiano oír palabras similares a las que Elifaz le dedicó a Job: “Al que tropezaba enderezaban tus palabras, Y esforzabas las rodillas que decaían” (Job 4:4).
Debemos luchar contra todo tipo de pecado, pues el pecado es una condición asentada en la mente y en el corazón, que se evidencia en la forma en que pensamos, hablamos y actuamos. Las groserías habladas y pensadas deben ser confesadas pidiendo perdón, y deben ir acompañadas de arrepentimiento.
