¿Quién es el que me ama? El que hace suyos mis mandamientos y los obedece. Y al que me ama, mi Padre lo amará, y yo también lo amaré, y me manifestaré a él. Juan 14:21 NVI
Queridos amigos, un cristianismo que no hace suyos los mandamientos de Dios y los obedece, es muy conveniente para muchos, pero no es bíblico y tampoco satisface las exigencias de Dios.
Los cristianos que adquieren un “seguro celestial”, porque afirman creer en Dios, se sienten confiados, porque Él está ahí para socorrerlos. Sólo cuando necesitan de Él, activan sus sentidos para buscarlo y pedirle en gran clamor su ayuda. Mientras tanto viven una vida tranquila dedicada a ellos mismos, cumpliendo con asistir los domingos a la congregación, orando por los alimentos, cumpliendo con ciertos preceptos y sin preguntarse qué pueden hacer para servir a su Señor.
Apropiarse de los mandamientos implica desearlos y anhelar cumplirlos. El hombre natural no suele discutir sobre la validez de los mandamientos, porque es consciente de que son buenos, pero en su interior no siempre está dispuesto a cumplirlos, y en la realidad vive incumpliéndolos, entonces no los hace suyos. Sólo el hombre espiritual, nacido de nuevo, considera los mandamientos como buenos, justos y santos, no los cumple a cabalidad, pero se esfuerza por cumplirlos haciendo carne de ellos.
Quien desea cumplir la Ley, se esfuerza por cumplirla, ama a Dios y es nacido del Espíritu, es decir ha nacido a vida nueva gracias al poder regenerador del Espíritu Santo. El seguidor verdadero de Jesús ama la Palabra de Dios, se esfuerza por ser leal a ella, incluidos los mandamientos, tomando como ejemplo perfecto a Cristo Jesús, quien alineó por completo su vida y obra a la voluntad del Padre.
Jesús no vino a abrogar la ley, sino para cumplirla. La ley estará presente hasta los últimos tiempos y más allá, y ni un punto ni una coma cambiarán en ella, eso significa que no está sujeta a modificaciones por su condición perfecta. Por lo tanto, quien no esté de acuerdo con ella o simplemente la incumpla, en el mejor de los casos, será llamado muy pequeño en el reino de los cielos (Mateo 5:17-19).
Dios desaprueba cualquier actitud contraria al respeto y cumplimiento de la Ley, así mismo cualquier postulado en contra de la plena obediencia a toda la Palabra es una agresión a la veracidad de Dios. La voluntad de guardar los mandamientos por parte de los discípulos de Cristo, está indisolublemente vinculada al amor de ellos por su Señor y salvador. Y si amamos al Hijo, nuestro Señor, también amaremos al Padre y su Palabra.
Es necesario escudriñar las Escrituras, pues ellas dan testimonio de Cristo, y son el único instrumento del que disponemos para conocerlo bien (Juan 5:39). No se puede amar a alguien sin conocerlo, entonces resulta imprescindible estudiar la Biblia con dedicación.
Pero sólo los nacidos de nuevo tienen ojos de fe para ver a Cristo, y lo verán para siempre. Ellos tienen comunión con Él y anhelan seguirlo cumpliendo sus mandamientos. El mundo no tiene ojos para ver y no lo verá hasta cuando retorne en su segunda venida, cuando sea demasiado tarde, por tanto, no se esfuerza por cumplir con su Ley.
Si nos apropiamos de los mandamientos de Cristo, debemos obedecerlos. Si ya están en nuestra mente, también debemos afianzarlos en nuestro corazón, dedicando nuestra vida a cumplirlos. Cuanto más lo logremos, mayor será la prueba de nuestro amor para con Jesucristo.
El amor sincero en el corazón de los creyentes conduce a obediencia. Le amamos porque Él nos amó primero, y ese nuestro amor no es otra cosa que una demostración de gratitud por su misericordia y gracia. El principio de agradecimiento que reina en nuestros corazones nos conduce a cumplir con nuestro deber de esforzados siervos para con nuestro Señor.
Dios ama a los creyentes obedientes, su obediencia es olor fragante para Él y se complace en amarlos. Cuánta bendición, cuánto privilegio para los que son hijos amados de Dios, que son partícipes de la gracia y que ya tienen morada reservada en el cielo.
