Queridos amigos, cuando todo falla y parece que ya no puede salir peor, cuando las ayudas de otros pierden eficacia y todo se pone más negro que la noche, siempre está Cristo Jesús.
El Hijo de Dios nos invita a confiar en su bondad, en su misericordia y en su poder. Podemos entregarnos a Jesucristo por completo y descansar en Él. Nuestro Señor está siempre dispuesto a soportar nuestras cargas y aflicciones.
Nuestra naturaleza humana nos impele a dejar de pensar en Dios cuando nos va bien, pero apenas las circunstancias se ponen difíciles, nos acordamos de su existencia para clamar por ayuda. Ese es un grave error, porque a Él debemos tenerlo presente en todo momento, lugar y circunstancia, pues ese es el deber de todo hijo para con su padre, cuánto más para con el Dios Padre.
El Creador es misericordioso y no rechaza dar la oportuna ayuda, si el hijo afligido se presenta humildemente y con oración llena de fe.
La escena que corresponde a nuestro versículo es la de un hombre cuyo hijo estaba endemoniado. La condición de maldad de la gente no impedía que el Señor obrase con bondad, y una vez más ayudó a un alma desesperada, curando al muchacho. Fue una más de las tantas demostraciones de que podemos confiar plenamente en Él.
El padre afligido llevó a su hijo a Cristo, es una analogía para que los padres lleven a sus hijos a Dios. En este caso era evidente que el alma del hijo estaba dominada por Satanás, la pena es que las almas del mundo están bajo el poder del maligno, aunque no siempre es tan evidente. Todos necesitamos del Redentor y Él es la única fuente de salvación.
Los discípulos llegaron a la escena antes que el Señor y no pudieron hacer mucho contra el demonio. Habían confiado en que estaban capacitados para echar fuera demonios y se vieron sorprendidos porque el demonio resistía. Malo es confiar en la propia fuerza y bueno es confiar en el poder de Cristo.
El Señor les mostró que las cosas no siempre salen de la manera deseada o acostumbrada, que algunas circunstancias exigen más que otras, pero que sin importar la situación que se tenga que afrontar, Él está siempre ahí.
Dios puede obrar proactivamente, pues Él lo sabe todo de antemano, pero también quiere la confiada sumisión de sus siervos. Las situaciones difíciles pueden y suelen ser resueltas con oración. La oración ferviente consigue que la fe se fortalezca. Pero para que la oración sea eficaz, es necesario entregarse a Dios por completo, en cuerpo y alma, demostrándole completa dependencia y confianza.
Nada puede sustituir a la oración. En una ocasión vi a mi hijo muy afligido. Cuando le pregunté, resultó que estaba pasando por una situación muy difícil para él, pero muy fácil de solucionar para mí. Mi pregunta fue: “¿por qué no confiaste en mí?”
El pedido en oración hecho con confianza y devoción es lo que el Dios Padre espera de sus hijos.
El apóstol Pablo nos insta a orar en todo tiempo con toda oración y súplica en el Espíritu, y a velar en ello con toda perseverancia (Efesios 6:18). Puede que la respuesta no sea inmediata, porque la perspectiva de Dios lo ve todo por completo, pero alguna respuesta llegará, y si no llegase, no deberá ser motivo para dejar de orar. Incluso cuando Dios no hace nada a nuestro favor, es bueno.
El tema del ayuno es poner el cuerpo bajo la servidumbre de Dios. El ayuno ayuda a centrarse en las oraciones. Entonces la oración acompañada de ayuno tiene mucho sentido.
La oración no solo está pensada para cuando las circunstancias apremian, también es un instrumento para vigorizar la fe y para llevar a la práctica la humildad. De esa manera enriqueceremos nuestra fe y nuestro caminar en santidad se aligerará.
