Pero en cuanto a mí, casi perdí el equilibrio; mis pies resbalaron y estuve a punto de caer, porque envidiaba a los orgullosos cuando los veía prosperar a pesar de su maldad. Salmos 73:2-3 NTV
Queridos amigos, el salmista se dio cuenta a tiempo de lo que estaba por hacer. Esa condición de discernimiento la tienen arraigada en el corazón los convertidos genuinos, aunque no siempre la pongan en práctica.
No son pocos quienes se reconocen como pecadores y admiten que el pecado es malo, pero, ¿cuántos de estos se asustan ante el recuerdo de sus pecados? No disciernen su condición de miseria, viven y mueren sin miedo.
Hay impíos “bendecidos”, pues gozan de prosperidad exterior, parece como si no tuvieran problemas y como si solo gozaran de la vida, disfrutando de todas las comodidades y lujos posibles.
A pesar de vivir sin temor de Dios, prosperan y les va bien en el mundo. Sus negocios marchan viento en popa, parece que todo les sale a pedir de boca. Pasan su vida sin mucha aflicción, invirtiendo su dinero para mantener su salud y no enfermar, y terminan sus vidas sin gran dolor.
Entonces la gente limpia de corazón podría preguntarse ¿por qué preocuparse por evitar el pecado, si pecando se vive mejor? El bienestar del impío es tan tentador para los fieles como para desear tenerlo. Es una tentación que puede poner en duda la fe.
Quizás no vale la pena ser recto, pues pareciera una pérdida de tiempo, puesto que adonde se mira todo parece estar mejor. Incluso se podría caer en otra trampa y llegar a cuestionar como los impíos: ¿dónde está ese Dios todopoderoso, que deja dirigir al mundo a otros poderes? ¿Será que Dios sabe todo lo que está ocurriendo en la tierra, y si lo sabe, por qué lo permite? Lo que está a la vista puede conducir a dudar de su poder, justicia, bondad y amor, incluso de su misma existencia.
Pero el cristiano verdadero se caracteriza por estar seguro de la existencia de Dios, de su poder absoluto sobre todas las cosas, de su infinito amor, de su maravillosa bondad, de su perfecta justicia; y sabe que debe hacer frente a la vida con lo que tenga, pues para los que aman a Dios todas las cosas les ayudan a bien (Romanos 8:28).
Es cierto que la vida de este mundo no ofrece una recompensa ante un comportamiento virtuoso. En muchos casos penaliza la virtud, porque hacer lo bueno no siempre acarrea consecuencias buenas. La experiencia de los fieles en esta tierra, a pesar de ser hijos de Dios, no suele ser la mejor.
El salmista reconoce que la causa raíz de su problema es la envidia. Con honestidad admite, que está siendo tentado al desear ese bienestar de los impíos. Podría manifestar su malestar por la injusticia reinante, pero admite que su problema es el pecado. Actuemos como el salmista.
Es Dios en su bondad que nos enseña a pensar como Él y permite que podamos mantenernos firmes en la fe. Sus buenos pensamientos, escritos en la Biblia, ayudan a huir de las tentaciones de la carne y de Satanás. Busquemos pensamientos puros y de alabanza en el momento de la tentación.
Por supuesto que la fe del creyente más firme puede ser conmovida por las tentaciones hasta el punto de caer, pero al final pedirá perdón y se mantendrá firme, si su fe es genuina.
Solo cuando se está con Dios se llega a comprender dónde está la justicia, pues no es fácil entender por qué el impío prospera, mientras el recto pasa por tribulación. Para esto es preciso reconocer la sabiduría de Dios, porque Él hará justicia sin lugar a dudas.
Tengamos presente que la riqueza del impío pasa a otras manos al momento de su muerte, se pierde por completo para él. Todo el esfuerzo fue en vano. En contraposición para el convertido su recompensa llega con la muerte, a partir de ese momento gozará de la presencia del Señor. Aquello que parecía no valer la pena finalmente muestra frutos eternos.
Si por causa de la tentación nos antojamos de la prosperidad de los impíos, tengamos muy presente, que serán ellos quienes desearán estar en el lugar de los cristianos por la eternidad. Oremos por sus almas.
